Former Tucson High standout Juliana Valdez scored in the 67th minute to give Pima a 1-0 victory over Western Wyoming Community College Friday in Prescott. Former Salpointe keeper Angelina Amparano was steady again with four more saves.
“It was challenging having one scrimmage going into our first matches against NJCAA Division I teams. Yavapai (College) and Western Wyoming gave us good games to learn from and a better idea where we stand in terms of quality of play,” Pima women’s soccer coach Kendra Veliz said in a release. “We were happy to come away with two wins and two shutouts on the road.”
Pima hosts Cochise College Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
