Victor Gonzalez, 5-foot-10 and 155 pounds, is listed at linebacker because he is physical like one. He covers a lot of ground like a safety. … He compiled 106 tackles, including nine for loss, last season. He had two sacks and a fumble recovery. He also caused four fumbles. … Gonzalez had seven games in which he recorded double-digit tackles, including 14 against Cactus Shadows and Ironwood Ridge. … Coaches selected Gonzalez the 5A Sonoran Defensive Player of the Year. … Also an accomplished wrestler at Sunnyside.
Sunnyside coach Thomas Romack on Gonzalez: “Victor is our vocal leader and enforcer of our defense and football team. He plays with a lot of passion and energy. We expect Vic to play at the All-State level he played at last year and help lead us into the playoffs and make a run. He is someone who makes the people around him work harder and motivates his teammates.”
