NOTES
— Former Arizona right-hander Hunter Alberini bypassed playing games in the rookie leagues and Single-A, starting his professional playing career at Single-A+ Quad Cities (Davenport, Iowa) of the Kansas City Royals organization. Alberini finished his career with Arizona this spring following two years at Douglas County (Ore.) Umpqua Community College and two seasons at College of Southern Nevada. The Las Vegas native made 18 relief appearances with the Wildcats and went 1-0 with a 3.48 ERA while striking out 33 batters.
— Former Arizona third baseman Tony Bullard’s stay at the Triple-A level with the Miami Marlins lasted 15 days before he was reassigned to Double-A Pensacola (Fla.) on Wednesday. He played in only three games at Triple-A Jacksonville and did not record a hit in nine at-bats. He should resume playing every day for Pensacola, which will be better for him in the long run.
— Former Arizona catcher Austin Wells of the New York Yankees achieved the second multi-home run game of his MLB career with two solo shots Wednesday at the Tampa Bay Rays.
— The Los Angeles Angels recalled former Arizona right-hander Chase Silseth from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday while also placing right-hander Jose Soriano on the paternity list. Silseth, who was moved to the bullpen this season after he was placed on the injured list, has a 3.50 ERA across 15 appearances in Triple-A this season. He has 41 strikeouts and 24 walks in 36 innings. The Angels drafted the 25-year-old right-hander out of Arizona in the 2021 MLB Draft. Silseth has 25 MLB appearances, totaling an ERA of 5.06.
— Brendan Summerhill continues to swing a hot bat for Single-A Charleston (S.C.) (Tampa Bay Rays), less than three months removed from his Arizona career. He went 3 for 4 with three runs, a double, triple and three RBIs on Wednesday night. He also walked twice. His OPS (on-base percentage and slugging percentage) is a very impressive .966 after his first 28 at-bats in pro ball. He is batting .348 with two doubles, a triple, four stolen bases and four RBIs.
Did we mention this guy is big-time?
