Pima men’s soccer earns ninth straight win behind Ribadeneira’s hat trick

The Pima Community College men’s soccer team won its ninth straight game on Tuesday night behind a hat trick by freshman Sean Ribadeneira, defeating Chandler-Gilbert 9-1 at the West Campus Aztec Field.

The No. 4 Aztecs (11-1, 8-1 ACCAC) matched a season-high the nine goals, seven of which were scored in the first half against the Coyotes (0-8-1, 0-8-1).

Ribadeneira achieved the hat trick in the first half as he scored in the 25th minute and followed it up with his second goal a minute later in the 26th minute to make it 4-0. He secured his third goal of the game in the 40th minute to put the score at 6-0.

Freshman Leonel Gutierrez (Salpointe Catholic) finished the game with three assists. Two of his dishes went to Ribadeneira’s goals. His other assist went to sophomore Joost Hermeling’s goal in the 37th minute.

The Aztecs finished with seven different goal scorers as sophomores Nathan Flores, Jihoon Song, Donovan Rodriguez, Lae Soe, along with freshman Wei Wei Mannos all scored goals.

Pima finished with 13 shots on goal and held the Coyotes to one for the game.

Sophomore Alex Cristerna Oleta (Tucson) played 55 minutes and had no saves. Freshman Gustavo Duran (Nogales) played the final 15 minutes and finished with no saves

The Aztecs will hit the road for the next three games. They play GateWay Community College on Friday at 4:00 p.m. The game will take place at South Mountain Community College.
