Jaden Bradley finished with a game-high 21 points and made a pivotal shot in the lane with 16 seconds left to lift No. 4 Arizona to a 71-67 victory Wednesday night over No. 3 UConn at Storrs, Conn.
Bradley eclipsed 1,000 career points in the game and is now at 1,016.
According to ESPN research, Arizona is the third team in AP poll history to have multiple wins over top-three opponents in its first five games of the season.
The Wildcats are the first to achieve the feat since Kansas in the 1989-90 season.
They also beat Florida when the Gators were ranked No. 3.
“Coming here was a special trip; I’ve never been here before,” said Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd, whose team also beat UCLA last week when the Bruins were ranked No. 15. “I’m really proud of our team. Ton of credit, it’s a great atmosphere.
“I’d love to see what this place is like on $1 beer night. You know, $2 beer night was pretty impressive.”
Arizona (5-0) withstood a rally by UConn (4-1) after leading by 13 points with nearly 13 minutes remaining.
The Wildcats outscored the Huskies 9-3 in the last two minutes to secure the victory.
