No. 7 Tanque Verde 16, No. 10 Phoenix Bourgade Catholic 0, 5 innings
Sophomore Mikaela Jackson hit a 3A state-record four home runs and junior Claire Achilles pitched a no-hitter in the five-inning run-rule victory for host Tanque Verde (26-5) over Bourgade Catholic (17-6).
Jackson, who had two two-run shots as part of her power display, finished with six RBIs.
The four home runs are second in state history behind five by Tanya Windle of Glendale Cactus against Scottsdale Coronado in 2022.
The 3A record of three home runs in a game before Jackson’s historic day was held by “many players,” according to the AIA.
Achilles (10-0) struck out 12 and walked two. She also belted a three-run home run, one of seven for the Hawks.
Sophomores Julia Pratt and Ella Haggard added the to the home run barrage.
Next: Tanque Verde will play at No. 2 Show Low (28-4) on Thursday at 4 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the single-elimination tournament.
No. 3 Empire 14, No. 14 Safford 4, 5 innings
Empire (23-6) run-ruled visiting Safford in five innings behind a 14-hit attack that included two home runs by sophomore Darby Smalligan.
Smalligan went 3 for 3 with three runs and five RBIs.
Sophomore Lainey Kroeger also hit a two-run home run. Junior Mia Garcia was 2 for 4 with a run, double and two RBIs. Junior Gabrianna Brooks also had two hits and two RBIs, and sophomore Kapri Tiggas had two hits and double.
Vanessa Grijalva (11-6) was the winning pitcher, allowing only two hits in four innings without an earned run. She struck out six and walked one.
Next: Empire will host No. 6 Chander Seton Catholic Prep (18-3) on Thursday at 4 p.m. in a quarterfinal game of the single-elimination tournament.

6A FIRST ROUND
No. 6 Marana 20, No. 11 Peoria Liberty 4, 5 innings
Marana senior Bella Corona hit for the cycle and produced nine RBIs in the Tigers’ (28-4) run-rule victory over visiting Liberty (16-13) in five innings behind 20 hits.
Corona and sophomore Alana Lopez each went 4 for 4 in the game.
Junior Kyla Layton with 2 for 3 with a home run with two RBIs, and freshman Makenzi Sledge also homered and was 2 for 2 with two runs and three RBIs.
Senior Aubrianna Gray (10-1) got the victory, allowing one earned run and no walks in four innings while having two strikeouts.
Next: Marana will play at No. 3 Phoenix Pinnacle (19-8-1) in a winners’ bracket second-round game at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
No. 8 Gilbert Perry 10, No. 9 Sunnyside 0, 6 innings
Sunnyside (20-9) mustered three hits and committed four errors in the loss on the road.
Next: The Blue Devils will host No. 16 Goodyear Millennium (14-16) in an elimination game Tuesday at 4 p.m.

No. 2 Mountain View 8, No. 15 Buckeye 3
Senior Mia Quinonez went 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs in the win for host Mountain View (21-3) over Buckeye (17-10).
Senior Arianna Figueroa also was 2 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs while senior Annysa Bojorquez had an RBI triple and two runs. Figueroa and Bojorquez are headed to Pima College next season.
Figueroa (20-3) also earned the complete-game win in the circle scattering five hits and allowing three runs. She had two strikeouts and five walks.
Mia Lynch was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Next: Mountain View, on a 14-game winning streak, will host No. 7 Cienega (19-10) on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in a second-round game in the winners’ bracket.
No. 4 Canyon del Oro 3, No. 13 Buckeye Verrado 0
Freshman ace Savanna Mares struck out 14 with two walks and allowed only four hits in the complete-game shutout for the host Dorados (25-6) over Verrado (23-7).
Senior Amelia DeAnda hit a solo home run, and senior Kelsey Rolls and junior Sadie Jones each had an RBI single. Rolls went 2 for 3, the lone player in the game with multiple hits.
Next: CDO will host No. 5 Peoria Centennial (18-10) on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in a winners’ bracket second-round game.
No. 7 Cienega 11, No. 10 Scottsdale Horizon 1, 5 innings
Seniors Micaela Valenzuela and Alexa Yarger each belted home runs for the host Bobcats (19-10) in their rout of Horizon (15-10).
Valenzuela went 3 for 4 with two runs and four RBIs and Yarger, formerly of Desert Christian, was 2 for 3 with four runs and two RBIs.
Freshman Kat Gonzalez (5-1) earned the victory allowing only two hits in four innings with a walk and two strikeouts.
Next: Cienega will play cross-town rival Mountain View in a winners’ bracket second-round game on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
No. 3 Scottsdale Chaparral 7, No. 14 Pueblo 2
Pueblo scored its runs on a two-run home run by senior Sofie Larribas, who put the Warriors ahead 2-0 in the top of the sixth before host Chaparral (19-9) rallied for seven runs in the bottom of the inning.
Pueblo ends its season 15-10.
4A FIRST ROUND
No. 1 Salpointe 11, No. 16 Lee Williams 0, 5 innings
Senior CC Moraga produced three RBIs, including two on a double, to lead the host Lancers (23-4) to the victory over Kingman Lee Williams (10-14).
Sophomore Catherine “Peaches” Sztan went 3 for 4 with two runs and junior Isabel Otero had a two-run single and a run.
Senior Macee Jackson (12-2) allowed only one hit in five innings and amassed 13 strikeouts with one walk.
Next: Salpointe will host No. 8 Flagstaff (25-6) on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in a second-round winners’ bracket game.
No. 2 Mica Mountain 10, No. 15 Walden Grove 2
Senior Acelynn-Rose Heston struck out 13 and walked three and allowed only one out in six innings for the victory for host Mica Mountain (26-4) over rival Walden Grove (10-15).
Heston, who improved to 20-4, helped herself at the plate going 2 for 3 (both doubles) with two RBIs and a run.
Freshman Peyton Knight was 3 for 4 with three runs.
Freshmen Briel Ramirez, Sadie Ratcliff and Emma Pedrique, and sophomore Caeli Shellenbarger each had two hits for the Thunderbolts.
Walden Grove senior Isabelle Higuera hit a two-run home run for the Red Wolves, whose season came to an end.
Next: Mica Mountain will host Flagstaff Coconino (21-7) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in a winners’ bracket second-round game.
No. 3 Sahuarita 3, No. 14 San Tan Valley Combs 1
Sahuarita (26-5) rallied for two runs in the first inning at home off an error and a wild pitch and added another run on a solo shot by junior Viana Robles.
The proved to be enough for senior ace Jayd Villa against Comb (19-10). The Coyotes rallied for a run in the seventh inning on a leadoff home run by Elliana Snyder, but Villa settled down to retire the last three batters.
Freshman Athena Johnsen, the No. 7 batter in the lineup, went 2 for 3 and was the lone Mustang with multiple hits.
Villa (15-4) allowed only two hits in her complete-game effort. She had 10 strikeouts and one walk.
Next: Sahuarita will host No. 6 Cave Creek Cactus Shadows (20-7) in the second round of the winners’ bracket on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
No. 10 Coconino 6, No. 7 Ironwood Ridge 5
Ironwood Ridge (15-12) had its season come to an end with the loss to visiting Coconino (21-7).
Freshman Hayden Nixon provided hope for the future, going 3 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI.
Senior Joliee Romero belted a three-run home run that gave Ironwood Ridge a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth.
Coconino rallied for two runs in the sixth and three in the seventh to claim the victory.
2A FIRST ROUND
No. 5 Willcox 5, No. 12 Eloy Santa Cruz Valley 1
Freshman Hattie Macumber held visiting Eloy Santa Cruz Valley to two hits and compiled 12 strikeouts with two walk in the victory for Willcox (22-6) over the Dust Devils (9-13).
Macumber, who is 22-5 in the circle, also went 2 for 3 with a home run, two runs and an RBI.
Sophomore Jacqueline Ramirez also belted a solo home run.
Home runs by Ramirez and Macumber and an RBI double by junior Gloria Encinas gave Willcox three runs in the first inning and the Cowgirls never looked back.
Next: Willcox will travel to No. 4 Kingman Academy (17-4) for a quarterfinal game Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the single-elimination tournament.
No. 6 Phoenix Horizon Honors 4, No. 11 Tombstone 2
Tombstone’s season came to an end at 18-13 after the loss at Horizon Honors (22-5).
Junior Bria Gross accounted for Tombstone’s runs with a two-run home run in the top of the sixth that cut the lead to 3-2, but the Yellow Jackets came up short the rest of the way.
No. 2 Bullhead City Mohave Accelerated 12, No. 15 Benson 0
Benson (7-18) was eliminated in a five-inning run-rule decision at Mohave Accelerated (23-4).
