Pueblo junior receiver Jesus Enriquez is all of 5-foot-5 and 135 pounds and he used quickness from that frame to produce one of the best receiving performances ever for the Warriors.
Enriquez tallied 12 receptions for 211 yards and two touchdowns in the 35-24 win over visiting Buckeye Youngker in the Week 1 slate of Southern Arizona high school football.
Making the performance even more remarkable is it was Enriquez’s first impact game at the varsity level.
The 12 receptions rank him fourth in the state in receptions heading into the second week of the season Friday when the Warriors host Sunnyside in a Southside showdown.
Pueblo has won eight straight games with its last loss almost a full calendar year ago (Sept. 12, 2025 at Douglas).
Enriquez was quarterback Roman Otero’s top target in the win over Youngker. Otero converted 12 of his 15 completions to Enriquez. Even though Youngker knew Otero was throwing to Enriquez at a high rate, they still could not stop him.
For his performance, Enriquez is the APS Digital Print/Frog & Firkin Week 1 Player of the Week.
