Players to watch:
–Walden Grove WR Jordan Dobson leads the Red Wolves with 208 yards on 11 receptions with three touchdowns through the first two games.
–Tucson RB/DB Dillion Flannigan-Jones has 128 rushing yards on 10 carries with two touchdowns. He also has two interceptions. He had a pick-6 against Salpointe last week.
5A Scottsdale Desert Mountain (2-0) at Mountain View (1-1)
Players to watch:
–Mountain View junior RB Drake Davis is averaging 180.0 rushing yards per game and leading the team with five total touchdowns (four rushing and another on a 73-yard kickoff return).
–Desert Mountain junior QB Jake Pilarcek has completed 73.9 percent of his passes (17 of 23) for 284 yards with six touchdowns and no interceptions.
4A Douglas (2-0) at Pueblo (1-1)
Players to watch:
–Douglas senior RB Cesar Gaxiola is already at 398 yards on 45 carries through the first two games. He also has four touchdowns.
–Pueblo senior WR Jesus Enriquez has 252 yards on 15 receptions with four touchdowns.
2A Santa Rita (1-2) at San Pasqual (1-2)
Player to watch:
–Santa Rita senior WR/DB Omar Wright II, a threat every time the ball is in his hands, looking to lead the Eagles to consecutive wins for the first time since 2019. Santa Rita snapped its 26-game losing streak last week with a 7-6 win at Desert Christian, a game in which Wright had a touchdown reception.
5A Maricopa (1-1) at Casa Grande (1-1)
–Notable: Casa Grande, under new coach Joe Thomas, can start 2-1 after losing its season opener 73-0 to ALA-Gilbert North at home.
4A Cholla (1-1) at San Tan Combs (2-0)
–Notable: Cholla was defeated 50-0 at home last season by Combs.
4A Sahuaro (1-1) at Peoria (2-0)
–Notable: The Cougars face another difficult test after losing 42-0 last week at Desert View. Sahuaro beat Peoria 13-8 last season at home.
4A Rincon/UHS (0-2) at 2A Palo Verde (1-2)
–Notable: Palo Verde has lost eight of its last 10 meetings with the Rangers, including 22-20 last year at Rincon/University.
3A Pusch Ridge (2-1) at 4A Catalina Foothills (0-2)
–Notable: Although a class under Catalina Foothills, Pusch Ridge is 6-1 in its series with the Falcons (winning the last six meetings dating to 2017).
3A Florence (0-3) at Thatcher (2-1)
–Notable: Thatcher is seeking to gain some revenge after Florence eliminated the Eagles at Thatcher last season in the first round of the 3A playoffs.
2A Desert Christian (0-3) at Catalina (1-2)
–Notable: Catalina is looking to avenge last year’s 44-6 loss at Desert Christian.
