Desert View quarterback Andrew Godoy phenomenally had the same amount of touchdown passes (four) as incomplete attempts in the Jaguars’ 46-6 victory Friday at Maricopa.
The 6-foot-3 and 210-pound standout finished 15 of 19 for 260 yards and did not throw an interception for the undefeated Jaguars (5-0) in the 5A Southern showdown. Desert View, on a 16-game winning streak in regular season games, is now 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the region.
Maricopa, a formidable opponent, entered the game 3-1 and 1-0 and is now 3-2 and 1-1.
Godoy, in his first full season at the varsity level, has completed 73.4 percent (69 of 94) of his attempts for 1,075 yards with 12 touchdowns and only one interception. His passer rating is 146.1.
His completion percentage ranks No. 1 in the state.
His passer rating ranks behind only Queen Creek Benjamin Franklin’s Gavin Wyler, who is at 153.8.
For his overall efficiency and performance, Godoy is the APS Digital Print/Frog & Firkin Week 5 Player of the Week.
