Video: Bob “Big Bird” Elliott talks about Hall of Honor induction, reminisces about Arizona playing days

LAS VEGAS — Bob “Big Bird” Elliott took a few minutes before his official induction into the Pac-12 Hall of Honor on Friday to talk with me about that achievement and his memories of his Arizona Wildcats career from 1973-77.

We talked about joining his coach, the late Fred “Fox” Snowden, in the Hall of Honor. Snowden was inducted in 2015.

Among the topics, he also spoke about his memories of moving to Tucson from Ann Arbor, Mich., time playing for Snowden, and distinct achievement as only one of 111 college players in history to record at least 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career.

When asked about what it would mean for Arizona to retire his uniform No. 55, Elliott had a heartfelt response in which his emotions spoke volumes.
