Arizona softball coach Mike Candrea met with the media Sunday afternoon following his 1,500th victory with the Wildcats — a 5-2 win over Washington.
Talking about the longevity of his success, he said, “It’s been fun and I love every moment, but I think what makes it fun is the kids.”
He was not quite 30 years old when he was hired at Arizona in the fall of 1985. I asked him how he has managed to keep the fire in his belly over the past 32 years.
“I like to compete; that will never change,” he said. “That’s in your blood.”
