Marana standout guard Alyssa Perez scored 27 points against Cienega on Tuesday night, giving the Pima commit 1,000 career points. Perez started the season out with 832 career points, but an injury left the milestone up in the air.

“I am extremely excited to continue my basketball career as an Aztec and I think it is the best fit for me,” Perez said. Coach T (Todd Holthaus) never turned away from me during my injury and always believed in me on my comeback and I am extremely thankful for that. I am thankful for my parents and the Marana program for helping me with this whole process. I am looking forward to putting in work with the Aztec family and representing the City of Tucson.”

Perez came back from her injury and started playing for the Tigers in early December what was only averaging 11 points until her 27-point outburst. She is nearing 13 points a game now.

No. 10 Marana (11-3 in power-ranking games) will travel to No. 27 Cholla (7-7) on Friday night.

Sunnyside standout Daisy Cornidez has 993 career points and she will visit Desert View on Friday night.

Patagonia senior Chris Miranda has 977 career points and he will go up against St. David on Thursday night.
