El Rio wins 10U Baja Fastpitch championship over Oro Valley

10U CHAMPIONSHIP
El Rio 10, Oro Valley 5

El Rio beat Oro Valley 10-5 Tuesday night at Udall Park to capture the 10U Baja Fastpitch championship. El Rio jumped out to a 6-0 lead and held off a late rally by Oro Valley.

El Rio scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and four more in the second but Oro Valley stormed back in the top of the third to cut the lead down to 6-4. Ciara paced the comeback with a leadoff home run and Micaela followed with a double.

El Rio responded with four runs in the bottom of the fourth and Oro Valley scored in the fifth for the 10-5 final.

Gabby went 2-for3 with a double and an RBI to help lead Oro Valley and Macy picked up an RBI single. Micaela and Cailin took the circle for Oro Valley and Bryza, Teah and Sofia got the ball for El Rio.

“We had a lot of confidence,” Teah said. “We were a team out there and I tried my best.”

Jesenia went 2-3 with an RBI to lead Oro Valley at the plate. Teah, Sofia and Yara also had hits.
