Two-time Arizona state champion Jesse Ybarra of Sunnyside High School has verbally committed to wrestle for the Iowa Hawkeyes, Sunnyside announced this morning in a press release.
Ybarra, a junior, has won the state championship the last two years. He is currently ranked 12th in the Adidas National Wrestling rankings.
Jesse also won the 120-pound cadet freestyle national championship this past summer.
Iowa has won the national championship 23 times. Their last championship came in 2010. The Hawkeyes have also won 33 Big Ten championships, the last in 2015.
