In an unsurprising move, the University of Arizona announced forward Omar Thielemans has left the program and will transfer.
“Omar is a great young man, and we wish him the best going forward,” said head coach Sean Miller.
That’s all that was said by Miller or the Univeristy. It’s not clear where Thielemans will transfer to. Earlier in the week Thielemans thanked UA fans for their support after he missed Sunday’s Red-Blue game because of personal reasons.
During media day, Miller said, “I think the best years are ahead of him. I think he’s more of a developmental player, development being at the forefront of what we’re trying to do. We’re excited to have him as part of our program.”
That’s how you know it’s bigger than basketball. Love to everyone who supports me ❤️ pic.twitter.com/cxnMx4jMYM

The freshman joined the Wildcats this summer from Belgium as part of the 2018 recruiting class, but he was very unlikely to break Arizona’s rotation this year.
