Shane Folsom led the Catalina Trojans to a 24-6 record last year and Sabino tapped him to be the next head baseball coach at Sabino.
The Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) Executive Board upheld stripping the Sabercats of the 2017-18 baseball championship, along with game forfeitures from that season, at a board meeting on Sept. 13. The vacancy resulted from resignations as a result the Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) investigation that determined there were violations within the program.
Folsom is also the athletic director at Catalina and he is well respected in Tucson youth and high school baseball circles. Sabino will host the preseason Cowboy Up Classic high school baseball tournament along with Cholla.
