The performance of CDO running back Gavin Davis in a 59-0 win over Flowing Wells last Friday earned him APS Digital Print High School Football Player of the Week honors.
Davis, playing in place of injured running back Stevie Rocker (ankle), rushed for a career-high 135 yards on 13 carries and scored five touchdowns in the Dorados’ season-opening victory in the Coaches for Charity Kickoff Classic.
Tuesday night after practice, Davis, senior, was presented a banner for his accomplishment by APS Digital Print owner Michael Wilson, a CDO grad.
Wilson elected to have a picture of him holding the banner with his head coach Dustin Peace and his teammates.
Davis will be presented a plaque for his player of the week honor on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Wings Over Broadway at Broadway and Camino Seco. Peace, other coaches, Davis’ family and his teammates and their families are expected to attend.
CDO travels to Prescott for its second game Friday.
