Former Arizona player Gilbert Arenas has found himself in legal problems again, arrested early this morning in Los Angeles for possession of illegal fireworks.
Arenas was pulled over by the LAPD for speeding and the officers subsequently found the fireworks in the trunk of his car. Photos of his arrest and the LAPD bomb squad’s removal of the fireworks was posted on the TMZ Web site.
Arenas, whose name is on Arizona’s Ring of Honor in McKale Center, pleaded guilty to a felony charge in 2010 for carrying an unlicensed pistol, after brandishing it in the Washington Wizards’ locker room.
Arenas is trying to piece his professional career together after Orlando released him following the 2011-12 season. He played this season in China for Shanghai and averaged 20.7 points and 7.3 rebounds a game.
Although Arenas is out of the NBA, he still has the fourth-highest salary in the league at $20.8 million, paid by the Magic.
