Be flattered, not fearful that Sean Miller’s name is coveted by Kentucky followers for a potential future job.

Arizona has gone down that road before with Lute Olson hearing overtures from Kentucky only to remain with Arizona and build a national power.

In various Tweets last night, Miller’s name surfaced as a potential top candidate if John Calipari leaves Kentucky for an NBA job, perhaps the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.

One of the Tweets that got the most recognition was that of former Kentucky and Phoenix Suns player Rex Chapman. He responded to a Tweet asking who would be a replacement for Calipari if he leaves to the NBA. “I would say that Sean Miller’s at the top of any short list,” Chapman wrote.

That Tweet drew plenty of favorable responses from Kentucky followers. Former Arizona player Tom Tolbert responded to Chapman’s assertion with a lighthearted comeback. “Bite your tongue Chapman! Ha”.

Miller, 45, just concluded his fifth season at Arizona with his second Elite Eight appearance. He also has a Sweet 16 to his credit.

NBCSports.com already has the Wildcats as a preseason No. 1 team for 2014-15.

If Calipari leaves for the NBA and Kentucky comes calling for Miller, expect Arizona to battle to keep the coach. The Arizona Board of Regents, who approve increases to contract terms and salary figures, presented a cake this week to the coach that read “33” for the number of victories this season.
