Pima Community College softball pitcher Odalis Orduno (Desert View) was recognized for her play for the week of Feb. 8-14. Orduno was selected ACCAC Division II Pitcher of the Week.

Orduno made three appearances out of the four games as she got two wins and a save. She pitched 12 innings and gave up one earned run with five strikeouts. Her best game was Pima’s 8-1 win at Mesa where she pitched a complete game giving up six hits, no earned runs with two strikeouts and one walk.

Daniel Chavez (Buena) is having his jersey retired by Bethesda University (Anaheim) this week. Chavez graduated from Bethesda in 2015.

Chavez was an National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Honorable-Mention All-American in 2015.

“Very honored, honestly just very blessed to be honored by my school that way,” Chavez said.

This list will be updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who have gone on to achieve either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level,. These are not high school awards but college and professional awards. NOT CHAMPIONSHIPS.

If you are aware of anything I have missed along the way please let me know.
