Former Pima baseball coach Jason Hisey will take the top spot at Canyon del Oro after the Amphitheater School District made the hiring official last Tuesday, Sept. 25 at a Special Public Meeting filled with district personnel decisions.
Hisey will replace Keith Francis who recently resigned his position to take on assistant coaching duties at Pima.
Hisey spent seven years at Pima and finished with a 196-188-1 record. A former pitcher for the University of Arizona, Hisey led Catalina Foothills from 1995 to 2005 after a brief stint in the Minor Leagues and he compiled a 256-78 record including three state championship appearances. Hisey spent a few years at Pima as a pitching coach after Catalina Foothills before taking on the Ironwood Ridge baseball program in 2009. He went 38-25 with the Nighthawks.
