The Tucson Sugar Skulls sign former Santa Rita standout Cam Gaddis

Cam Gaddis (Duke City)

The Tucson Sugar Skulls announced the signing of three more players to their inaugural roster including former Santa Rita defensive standout Cam Gaddis. According to former Santa Rita head coach Jeff Scurran, Gaddis was a driving force on those powerful Eagle squads.

“I’ve stayed close to Cam for a long time and he’s been like a machine, always working and looking for that ray of light and I think this is a great opportunity for him,” Scurran said.

“I think Tucson will be happy. He was always a playmaker on defense. I can come up with a dozen examples of how he changed games but the one that stands out was when he came through with a 95-yard interception return to help defeat Sabino in 2009 (27-16).

“Cam stood out physically and he reminded me of Deion Sanders and he talks and is in constant motion but he always backed up his talk and he used it for self-motivation. I think this is perfect and a great opportunity.”

According to the club, the roster is now up to seven players of 25 that will make up the team when it begins play in March. The Sugar Skulls first preseason camp will open in late January. An open tryout is scheduled for Nov. 10 at the Kino Sports Complex.
