Miller signs Euro guard to roster, adding to signings

Arizona fans might want to get their Keeeerrrrr ready again. Maybe, Kriiiiisa.

They might be using either for incoming Euro guard Kerr Kriisa, who signed with Arizona on Friday. He is a 6-foot-2 guard from Lithuania.

Earlier this week, UA officially signed transfer Terrell Brown and freshman Bennedict Mathurin.

It was not unexpected in as much as there could be another Euro player to be signed in the coming week(s) – an expected big man. Kriisa is the latest Euro player since Dusan Ristic and Lauri Markannen.

Kriisa is a 19-year-old who averaged 14.8 points and six assists a game for the Lithuanian NKL last season.

In an interview with ESPN, Kriisa said, “Year after year, I started to follow college basketball more closely and realized I could be effective there also,” Kriisa told ESPN. “It’s a completely different style of basketball, but I believe it can be good for me to challenge myself.”

He added in the ESPN interview that he’s joining Arizona “without expectations” as he joins Arizona, a team loaded with backcourt players that includes James Akinjo, Jemarl Baker, Terrell Brown (Brandon Williams?).

Arizona has three remaining scholarships to give and an assistant coach to hire, although it’s my impression one has been targeted (expect a big name) but because of Arizona’s hiring freeze don’t expect anything to happen anytime soon.
