Tucson High’s Martin Barreras headed to Chadron (Neb.) State


Tucson High School running back/linebacker Martin Barreras announced Tuesday he has committed to Chadron (Neb.) State, an NCAA Division II program.

Barreras will join former Tucson teammate Daniel Becerra at Chadron State. Becerra, wide receiver/safety, committed to the Eagles on Feb. 3.

“I chose Chadron because the education is cheap and really affordable and I also chose it for football because the coaches showed me a lot of good hospitality and guided me through my options,” Barreras mentioned.

He said of continuing to be a teammate of Becerra: “I figured we played four years together and that our chemistry will only grow more in college.”

Barrera, who will study physical science, is the 37th local Class of 2021 football prospect to commit or sign with a college program. Here is a complete list:
