Sugar Skulls look to snap three-game losing skid in home matchup against Northern Arizona

The Tucson Sugar Skulls look to get back in the win column after losing to Duke City 57-52 on Saturday in Albuquerque in a last-minute thriller.

The Sugar Skulls had a shot to tie the game with four seconds remaining from its own 10-yard line, but an errant snap went over kicker Logan Justus‘ head and out of the end zone for a safety as time expired.

Tucson running back Mike Jones is tied with Frisco Fighters quarterback Justin Rankin for first in the IFL with eight rushing touchdowns. Jones had five touchdowns in Tucson’s home opener against the San Diego Strike Force.

The Sugar Skulls rank second in the IFL in points per game at 50.0 through four games, but its defense is first in points allowed per game at 54.8.

The Sugar Skulls (1-3) play Saturday at Tucson Arena against the Northern Arizona Wranglers (3-1). Kickoff is at 6:05 p.m.
