COACHES FOR CHARITY KICKOFF GAMES

Sunnyside (0-0) at Desert View (0-0), 7 p.m.
Coaches for Charity Kickoff Classic at Kino North Stadium.

Mica Mountain (0-0) at Ironwood Ridge (0-0), 7 p.m.
Coaches for Charity Kickoff Classic.
First full season for Mica Mountain, Dale Stott era begins with the Nighthawks.

Bagdad (2-0) at St. David (2-0), 6 p.m.
St. David beat Bagdad in the 1A state playoffs last year.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2

Salpointe (0-0) at Chaparral (0-0), 7 p.m.
The Lancers begin the 6A era (with new QB Fredo Sotelo) on the road to play at state-power Scottsdale Chaparral in a rematch of the 2013 state championship game won by Salpointe.

Marana (0-0) at Mountain View (0-0), 7 p.m.
The Battle of the Boot with Mountain View trying to get the boot back after the Tigers narrowly win at home last year.

Cienega (0-0) at Catalina Foothills (0-0), 7 p.m.
The first meeting since 2015. Two of the best young coaches in Southern Arizona with Cienega’s Justin Argraves and Catalina Foothills’ Daniel Sainz.

Dobson (0-0) at Tucson (0-0), 7 p.m.
The Badgers are in the 5A Conference now under interim coach Malcolm Nelson.

Walden Grove (0-0) at Canyon del Oro (0-0), 7 p.m.
The Dorados are expected to be a 4A power this year with 14-year coach Dustin Peace (closing in on 100 career wins with 94) and Walden Grove is always a huge hurdle.

Cholla (0-0) at Pueblo (0-0), 7 p.m.
Cholla and Pueblo renew the rivalry of the two westside schools.

Nogales (0-0) at Rio Rico (0-0), 7 p.m.
The Jeff Scurran era begins at Rio Rico with the veteran coach in his 48th year of coaching.

Buena (0-0) at Sahuarita (0-0), 7 p.m.
The first meeting between the two schools situated to the south of Tucson.

Seton Catholic (0-0) at Sahuaro (0-0), 7 p.m.
The Al Alexander era begins at Sahuaro with some excitement with legendary Dennis Bene hired as the Cougars’ defensive line coach.

Rincon/UHS (0-0) at Empire (0-0), 7 p.m.
Rincon/UHS won the last meeting in 2019 and Empire is coming off a good season under George Kelly.

Amphitheater (0-0) at Flowing Wells (0-0), 7 p.m.
The Battle of Prince Road rivalry with the schools less than two miles apart.

Sabino (1-0) at ALA West Foothills (0-2), 7 p.m.
Sabercats back to action after a bye week going against ALA-West Foothills, in its first year of existence.

Pusch Ridge (2-0) at Mohave (1-0), 7 p.m.
The first meeting will happen way up in Bullhead City.

Douglas (0-0) at Bisbee (1-0), 7 p.m.
4A Douglas at 2A Bisbee in the historic Pick rivalry. These two legendary teams split two games in 1906, when the rivalry began.

Palo Verde (0-2) at Catalina (0-1), 7 p.m.
Two struggling teams looking to resurrect their programs. Palo Verde beat Catalina 61-0 in 2019.

Willcox (1-0) at Benson (2-0), 7 p.m.
Battle of unbeatens: Willcox and Benson started playing in 1946.

Valley Lutheran (0-1) at Tanque Verde (0-1), 7 p.m.
The first meeting between the schools with Jay Dobyns‘ Hawks looking to bounce back after a humbling 44-0 loss at Morenci last week.

Tombstone (0-1) at Sequoia Pathway (1-0), 7 p.m.
The first meeting in Maricopa between the 2A teams.

Santa Rita (0-1) at Heritage Academy Laveen (1-1), 7 p.m.
Game will be played in Goodyear with the Eagles hopeful to take enough players after being down to only 12 healthy players last week in a 40-0 loss to Globe that was called toward the end of the third quarter.

Baboquivari (1-1) at Desert Heights Prep (1-1), 7 p.m.
The first meeting taking place in Glendale with Baboquivari potentially playing without standout quarterback Xavier Mease (under concussion protocol).

San Manuel (1-1) at Duncan (1-1), 7 p.m.
San Manuel beat Duncan 38-8 last year and is looking to bounce back after last week’s 59-0 loss at Mogollon.

Valley Union (0-2) at Lincoln Prep (1-1), 7 p.m.
The first meeting at Chandler with the Blue Devils looking to score their first points of the season.
