Rincon/University senior high jumper Nathaniel Curtiss was the lone male athlete from Southern Arizona to win an Open Division state title and an AIA Division I state championship, earning him Jet Sports Training Male Athlete of the Month for the month of May.
Curtiss recorded a high jump of 6 feet and 10 inches (matching his personal record) for the AIA Division I state championship on May 4. He followed that with a mark of 6-8 to win the Open Division state championship on May 12.
He took first nine times this spring in the high jump, including in the Willie William Classic, Lancer Track and Field Invitational, Southern Arizona Championships and TUSD Championships.
