Andy Morales, one of Javier’s older brothers, started writing for the print edition of the Tucson Citizen in 2008 in a guest column that would appear every few weeks or so.
He did that up to the final week of the print edition that ended on May 16, 2009. At that time, he had already been through the local high school sports scene with one of his daughters and he also coached a bit.
When he found out the Citizen was going to have a blog site he jumped on the opportunity and Mark Evans welcomed him aboard. Andy’s diligent work has become popular among high school and youth sports coaches, parents and athletes. His realm of talent with youth sports has expanded to photography.
Andy earned in April the Arizona Interscholastic Association’s Skip Bryant Award as the top promoter/writer of high school athletics in the state.
