Archie Miller second former Arizona Wildcats assistant to reach Sweet 16 as head coach

Archie Miller, younger brother of Sean Miller, became the second former Arizona Wildcats assistant to reach the Sweet Sixteen as a head coach when Dayton upset Syracuse 55-53 today in the South Regional.

Kevin O’Neill, who served as an assistant under Lute Olson from 1986-89, took Marquette to the Sweet Sixteen in 1994.

Josh Pastner has an opportunity to join Archie Miller and O’Neill if Memphis upsets No. 1 seed Virginia in a third round game Sunday at 5:40 p.m.

A total of 11 assistants under Olson and Miller have advanced to the head coaching ranks.
