Former Palo Verde High School and Providence standout Bryce Cotton was toiling in the D-League not too long ago.
Cotton is now showing the confidence befitting of a rookie who signed a multi-year contract with the Utah Jazz on March 16. He displayed one of the best dunks of this season, or any season for that matter, tonight with a thunderous one-handed dunk against Dallas.
At the start of the second quarter, Cotton passed to Rodney Hood on the perimeter and used a screen by Jeremy Evans to get by a defender. He then exploded to the basket, caught the ball with his left hand and rose above two defenders despite being 6’1″. He then threw the ball down with a vicious dunk.
Utah signed Cotton to the multi-year deal after he averaged 22.4 points and 4.6 assists per game with the Austin Spurs.
The alley-oop dunk was part of a career-high 21-point effort for Cotton tonight in Utah’s 109-92 win. The scoring output in 26 minutes off the bench led the Jazz. Cotton also tied for the team-high with four assists.
