Bryce Cotton, Devyn Netz and Bria Medina earn honors

Bryce Cotton. (Perth Wildcats Photo)

Former Palo Verde standout Bryce Cotton was named Game MVP for the third time this year after scoring 36 points for Perth over Brisbane of the Australian National Basketball League.

Former Ironwood Ridge standout Devyn Netz was listed No. 69 in the D1Softball Preseason Top 100 as a pitcher/dual threat for Arizona.

Former Salpointe basketball standout Bria Medina was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week playing for Know College. Medina scored 23 points on just seven field goal attempts in 23 minutes of action against Lake Forest.. The sophomore point guard made six of those shots plus converted 11 free throws, matching a career high. She also contributed four rebounds and four assists without turning the ball over once.

This list will be updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who have gone on to win either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level. These are not high school awards but collegiate and professional recognitions. NOT CHAMPIONSHIPS.
