Everybody remembers the last time the underdog Cougars came to Tucson — Nov. 16, 2013, when they upset Arizona 24-17 a week before the Wildcats trampled Oregon at Arizona Stadium.
Arizona turned it around against Washington State in Pullman, Wash., last year routing Mike Leach’s team 59-37.
A word of caution for Arizona: The Wildcats are 2-4 against Washington State at home dating to 2001. Of course, three of those losses in 2001, 2002 and 2004 came under coaches John Mackovic and Mike Stoops (in his first season of 2004).
Leach is in fourth season with Wazzu, yet to achieve a winning record. The pressure is on for him to coach the Cougars to at least seven wins this season.
