Athlon Sports recently ranked Sean Miller as the No. 1 coach in the Pac-12.

“Miller is only 46 and on the short list of best coaches in the game,” Athlon writer David Fox states. “He’s seeking his first Final Four, but he’s already on a Hall of Fame trajectory.”

As a “number to note”, Fox writes of Miller: “Not only has Miller been to either the Elite Eight or Sweet 16 in each of his last six trips to the NCAA Tournament, Miller has never been knocked out of the Tourney by a team seeded lower than third.”

The entire Pac-12 ranking of head coaches by Athlon:

1. Sean Miller, Arizona
2. Larry Krystowiak, Utah
3. Dana Altman, Oregon
4. Steve Alford, UCLA
5. Cuonzo Martin, California
6. Tad Boyle, Colorado
7. Wayne Tinkle, Oregon State
8. Lorenzo Romar, Washington
9. Johnny Dawkins, Stanford
10. Bobby Hurley, Arizona State
11. Ernie Kent, Washington State
12. Andy Enfield, Southern Cal

The only change I would make is moving Kent to No. 9 and shifting Dawkins, Hurley and Enfield down one spot. Kent, mostly successful when he was Oregon’s head coach, brought some life back to the Washington State program last season.
