Compiling three off-the-beaten-path storylines of Arizona’s game at Stanford while wondering if Jerrard Randle can break B.J. Denker’s season rushing record (949 yards) for a Wildcat quarterback despite not being the starter? He’s already at 337 yards …

ALL-PAC-12 TEAM OF PLAYERS WHO LEFT TUCSON?

With Stanford senior linebacker and leading tackler Blake Martinez hailing from CDO, it begs the question: Can an All-Pac-12 team be compiled of Southern Arizona talent that left the area to play at one of Arizona’s conference rivals? Here’s an attempt without all the positions filled (couldn’t find defensive linemen):

QB — Rodney Peete, Sahuaro, USC; Bobby Valdez, Sunnyside, ASU

RB — Mario Bates, Amphi, ASU; Jon Volpe, Amphi, Stanford; Chris Hopkins, Salpointe, ASU; Omar Bacon, Sahuaro, Utah

WR — Steve Martin, Sahuaro, ASU; John Mistler, Sahuaro, ASU; Brian Poli-Dixon, Sabino, UCLA

OL — Kevin Thomas, CDO, ASU; Danny Villa, Nogales, ASU

LB — Ricky Ellison, Amphi, USC; Blake Martinez, CDO, Stanford; Jon McGee, Amphi, USC; Osia Lewis, Tucson High, Oregon State.

DB — Steve Doolittle, Amphi, Colorado

PK — Cole Ford, Sabino, USC

Bacon and Doolittle played at Utah and Colorado, respectively, before those schools joined the Pac-12 in 2011.
