A lot of individual success to achieve this year for senior Kaleb Tarczewski, who is more about the team than his honors.
Aside from earning the most starts and victories for a player at Arizona, Tarczewski can also become one of the Wildcats’ top five scorers at the center position in program history.
He currently ranks No. 9 at 941 points, passing Junior Crum (1945-49) by one point in last year’s season-ending loss to Wisconsin when he scored 11.

Site founder and award-winning sports journalist Javier Morales has published his first e-book, “The Highest Form of Living”, a fiction piece about a young man who overcomes a troubled upbringing without his lost father and wayward mother through basketball and hope. His hope is realized through the sport he loves. Basketball enables him to get past his fears. His experience on the court indirectly brings him closer to his parents in a unique, heartfelt way. Tarczewski has scored 358 and 353 points in the last two seasons. If he continues at least at that rate, he will finish around 1,300 points, which will put him close to the 1,329 scored by No. 5 center scorer Frank Smith (1980-83).
He needs only 59 more points to become the 50th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points.
Tarczewski needs 28 starts to catch school-record-holder Jason Gardner, who had 135 starts from 2000-03. His 92 victories are only 17 shy of Matt Muehlebach’s record of 109 set from 1988-91.
