Lyana Waddell has pitched San Manuel to two state championships and a second place finish in her three years at the school. Now a senior, Waddell committed to Western New Mexico over the weekend.

“It’s awesome knowing that hard work and dedication to the sport and the classroom can truly pay off,” Waddell replied.

“I now realize the effort it took not only for myself but for my parents who stood by and pushed me to always achieve more,” she added. “I’m proud and excited that I’m going to be a future Mustang, I think WNMU is the perfect fit for me!”

Waddell plays club softball with AZ Impact Gold-Martinez, from Tucson. Coached by Jimmy Martinez.

Wadded added this message, “To the young girls out there just starting, never give up. Play like you mean it and like you want it, because you never know who’s watching. If you can achieve you can succeed, attitude is everything play with heart!”
