Compiling off-the-beaten-path storylines of Arizona’s game against Utah tonight while wondering if Rich Rodriguez can draw from Mike Stoops’ magic in November, one of the few bright spots from the former coach …

ARIZONA IN RECENT NOVEMBER HOME GAMES

Mike Stoops started 7-4 in November home games from his first season of 2004 until 2010. He was 41-50 overall in eight seasons.

Among the memorable games in November at Arizona Stadium were the upsets over No. 18 ASU in 2004, No. 7 UCLA in 2005, No. 8 Cal in 2006 and No. 2 Oregon in 2007.

Between 2008 and 2012, Arizona played only two ranked teams at home in November and both were very close defeats — 19-17 against No. 22 Oregon State in 2008 and 44-41 in double-overtime against No. 11 Oregon in 2009.

Rich Rodriguez rekindled the magic at Arizona Stadium in 2013 with the Wildcats upsetting No. 5 Oregon on Nov. 23. Last season, Arizona clinched the Pac-12 South title in Tucson with a win over No. 13 ASU on Nov. 28.

Now comes No. 10 Utah to Arizona Stadium on a November night.

Can the trend continue?
