Arizona’s starting backcourt of Kadeem Allen and Gabe York is holding its own for the most part. They combine for 20.9 points and 7 rebounds a game. They lead the Wildcats in steals with Allen at 20 and York 11. Their backups, however, are playing at a subpar level. Parker Jackson-Cartwright is suffering through a sophomore jinx with his lack of production (33.3 percent shooting and 20.7 percent from three-point range). Elliott Pitts, when he was suiting up, shot only 26.9 percent from the field and an inexplicable 12.5 percent from three-point range. Perimeter shooting should be his specialty. At least Jackson-Cartwright has 44 assists to go with only 16 turnovers. But his shooting confidence is severely lacking, extending to the free-throw line where he is making only 57.9 percent of his attempts (11 of 19).
