Edgar Poe (Cienega) was named Army’s Most Valuable Player at the football program’s postseason banquet last Saturday night.
Poe, a junior wide receiver, was selected as the Thruston Hughes Memorial Award winner. It was established in 1939 to honor the team MVP and will be presented officially during the Awards Convocation prior to graduation.
In addition, junior Jeremy Timpf (Sabino) was awarded the Creighton W. Abrams Memorial Award as one of the two team captains.
This list will be updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who have gone on to achieve either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level,. These are not high school awards but college and professional awards. NOT CHAMPIONSHIPS.
