Canyon del Oro pitcher Mikayla Santa Cruz announced her commitment to play for Arizona State on Christmas morning. The junior won two games for Salpointe last year and picked up 23 strikeouts in 26 innings of work.
“I am excited to announce that I will play PAC-12 softball at Arizona State University under Coach (Trisha) Ford!” Santa Cruz wrote.
“I want to thank my teammates and coaches that have pushed me to be the player I am. I would also like to thank my family and parents for always supporting me and never giving up on me. You all have made me the person I am today and I cannot be more thankful. But most importantly I would like to thank God. He has been holding my right hand for all of my life. He has never given up on me and has been with me when I was at my highest point and lowest point in life. It has always been my dream to play PAC-12, to play for an amazing coach, and be a part of a family. I’m proud to say I’m one step closer. Thank you for all the love and support! Merry Christmas.”
