Sydni Stallworth (Pima)

Pima Community College women’s basketball player Sydni Stallworth (Palo Verde) put the Aztecs on her shoulders last week and earned being called Arizona Community College Athletic Conference Player of the Week once again.

Stallworth, a sophomore guard, was named ACCAC Division II Player of the Week on Tuesday for the week of Jan. 9-15. It is the third time this season she has received the honor. She won it for the week of Dec. 5-11 and on Nov. 21 for her play at the beginning of the season.

The Aztecs put two back in the win column after they defeated Phoenix College at the West Campus and at Central Arizona College. Stallworth averaged 30 points and recorded 15 assists and seven rebounds. She also shot 51 percent from the floor.

Stallworth is averaging 15.3 points, 4.5 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game.

2016 LIST

This list was updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who had gone on to achieve either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level. These are not high school awards but college and professional awards. NOT CHAMPIONSHIPS. If you are aware of anything I have missed along the way, please let me know. amoralesmytucson@yahoo.com
