LAS VEGAS — Rawle Alkins had more on his mind than preparing for Oregon going into the Pac-12 tournament championship on Saturday night.
He discovered earlier in the day that his great grandma — Grandma T — passed away.
“She lived to be 99 … that’s great,” Alkins said. “I just wanted to win. I didn’t want my night to end worse. Our win really took my mind off of it and it just made me happy.”
Alkins, who had nine points in Arizona’s 83-80 victory, also talked about how his teammates supported him after learning of the sad news.
He also talked about his contribution to the win and what he thinks of the NCAA tournament ahead.
