No. 3 Sahuaro beat No. 10 Queen Creek Friday night at Rose Mofford to advance to the 5A state championship game to be played Monday, May 15 at ASU. The game will be streamed live on the NFHS Network and tape delayed by Fox Sports Arizona.
It will be the first championship appearance for the Cougars since 2008 but the program has eight championships to its name. Canyon del Oro won its ninth this past week so the Cougars are looking to get a piece of the record back.
Cienega has two state championships and head coach Eric Tatham is looking to become only the sixth coach from Southern Arizona to win three championships.
