University of Arizona commits Ian Mejia & Zach Martinez named to USA Baseball 17U National Team Development Program

USA Baseball announced the final 40-man roster for the 2017 17U National Team Development Program (NTDP) on Monday July 3, following the conclusion of the 17U National Team Championships in Arizona and Florida. The 17U National Team Development Program will be held in Chicago from July 12-29.

University of Arizona commits Ian Mejia (Sahuarita) and Zach Martinez (Joy Christian) were named to the roster. Martinez was a pitcher on the 15U National Team last summer that won the silver medal at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-15 World Cup in Japan.

In addition, 17 athletes from Arizona were selected to represent the Southwest Region at the National Team Identification Series held by USA Baseball in August. Six of the 17 are from Southern Arizona.

Former Canyon del Oro standout Ian Kinsler (Detroit Tigers) is a member of the Team USA World baseball Classic Team.
