Sunnyside senior standout Roman Bravo-Young woke up Sunday morning to some great news. The Penn State commit clicked on the preseason high school rankings put out by Flowrestling and he saw he was the Nation’s top wrestler in the 132-pound division.
“Finally ranked No. 1 in the country!” Bravo-Young told me. Yes, finally!
Bravo-Young is undefeated in his high school career at 130-0 and he is shooting for his fourth consecutive state championship before he heads off to the best college wrestling program the country has to offer. Already a member of Team USA, Bravo-Young is one of the best we have to offer.
He has a summer full of national championships ahead of him but his high school career is already remarkable. It might be impossible for Bravo-Young to finish with the longest win streak in Arizona history, but he could be one of only three in the history of Arizona to win four state championships without losing once. (Marco Groves lost four times as a freshman).
“I have to work hard – bigger target on my back, senior year,” Bravo-Young added. “Gotta make it one for the books”
