Optimist International Junior Golf Championships
July 24-Aug. 3: Palm Beach Gardens
Canyon del Oro senior Jonathan Walters shot a 293 (76-72-68-77) to take 11th place in the Boys 16-18 Division at the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships held at the PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens.
Walters finished 10 strokes back of Adrien Pendaries of France (70-72-71-70, 283). The round of 68 shot by Walters was the second lowest round of the tournament.
Salpointe standout Alexandra Quihuis shot a 300 (76-69-79-76) to take 11th place in the Girls 15-18 Division. Latanna Stone of Florida shot a 286 (71-70-72-73) to win the division.
The round of 69 on the second day of competition was the lowest round of the tournament.
