Devaughn Cooper has decided to return to the team. Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez announced the wide receiver’s decision Monday morning while discussing his team after practice.
“We told him he had to work his way back in,” said Rodriguez. “He has a couple of weeks to catch up.”
Cooper, a redshirt freshman from Los Angeles, unexpectedly left the program last month after many thought he’d have a breakout year this year. He had a good spring.
“I think he misses it,” Rodriguez said. “The guys welcomed him back and we will see what happens in the next couple of weeks.”
Rodriguez offered no explanation on why Cooper decided to return, saying he didn’t wan to create any drama in the story.
“I think he was confused in the start (of practice) but now he’s back with us,” Rodriguez said. “He’s a good young man. We’ve always thought a lot of him. Hopefully he’ll make the most of the opportunity.”
