Cienega senior QB Jamarye Joiner, who accounted for seven touchdowns last week, had another great showing in a 51-6 win over visiting Shadow Ridge on Friday night but it was his teammate Terrell Hayward who stole the headlines this time.
After Joiner scored Cienega’s first TD on a 12-yard run in the first quarter, Hayward scored on a 66-yard TD pass from Joiner. Hayward then went 80 yards for a touchdown on an interception return to put the Bobcats up 24-0.
Hayward continuing to shine in the first half returning a punt 45 yards for a touchdown for his third score of the night.
Joiner’s second TD pass was a 50-yard connection to Terrell Huggins as time expired in the half. Cienega took a 38-0 lead. Joiner’s third TD pass increased the lead to 45-0.
NOTABLE
— Isaiah Bae scored on a 23-yard TD run to put Catalina Foothills up 7-0 against Cholla in the first quarter.
— Catalina Foothills went up 14-0 on Chris Kowalcek’s 44 yard TD pass to Andrew Rhonehouse. Kowalcek later had TD runs of 2 and 14 yards. He also had another TD pass.
— Cholla QB Jordan Porter hit AJ Blair with a 28-yard TD pass in the first quarter. Porter later scored on a 7-yard run. He then connected on two TD passes in the second half.
— Porter had his second TD run, a 1-yard score, as time expired in the game.
— Dominic Bynum scored on a 63-yard TD run for Catalina Foothills against Cholla.
— Blake Bishop ran for an 11-yard TD up the middle, which helped Flowing Wells take an 8-0 lead over Amphi heading into the second quarter.
— Eljah Shepherd scored on a 20-yard reception in Willcox’s game against Tanque Verde. Willcox went up 25-0 after a Tanner DeBaun 7-yard scoring run.
— Christian Brown had three touchdown passes for Willcox in the first half.
— Anthony Dorado had a 6-yard TD reception for Flowing Wells. Dylan Allison scored on a QB keeper.
— Tarrik Workman had two touchdown runs for American Leader
