Ironwood Ridge softball standout Diana Nisbett to play for Great Britain this summer

Ironwood Ridge junior Diana Nisbett has been selected to play for the U-22 and the U-19 Great Britain national teams this year. The Nighthawks infielder played for the GB Cadette 16-U team last summer at the 2017 European Cadette Championship held in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

The GB Under-19 Women’s Team will travel to Staranzano, Italy for the European Junior Women’s Championship from July 16-21 as defending champions.

The GB Under-22 Women is a new team created this year to help players bridge the gap between junior and senior levels of play, according to a release issued by the national softball organization. The team will play in the European Under-22 Women’s Championship in Trnava, Slovakia from July 23-28, where a record-breaking 16 countries have entered the competition.

“She’s a very versatile player with an excellent bat,” said her club coach and former Canadian National Team standout Shannah Biggan. “Didi is also one of the most humble and hardworking kids I’ve ever had the pleasure to coach, loves the game and is a great teammate.”

Nisbett has verballed to play college ball for Montreat College in North Carolina.
