Everybody in the world knows about Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles after his performance in the Philadelphia Eagles’ victory over the New England Patriots in February.
They are also catching on to the story of his wife, Tori, who became a volleyball standout at Arizona at the same time Nick’s career flourished with the football team from 2008 to 2011. She was known as Tori Moore at the time.
Now, she is known as Tori Foles, a mom, wife and determined survivor, with incredible faith, of Lyme disease and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). She is also carving her own niche with a blog she started in July 2015 titled, “Healing As We Go.”
“I started this blog as an inspiration to anyone going through a healing process of any kind,” writes Tori, who started suffering from POTS, when the autonomic nervous system fails to function properly, in 2013, a year before marrying Nick. “My goal is to give some perspective on how to view such a difficult situation and help inspire you to find purpose in what you are going through.
“Whether it’s a physical ailment, a mental struggle, or any other hardship, I hope this blog can help you find peace and understanding as it does for me. Even if you are not dealing with a hardship, I hope you love my content as it can really apply to anyone-everyone needs healing in some way!”
The blog includes health-conscious recipes symbolic of Tori’s certification in health coaching from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
“When I became ill, one of the worst things that happened was losing my appetite,” writes Tori. “All of a sudden, I had no interest in food and nothing ever sounded good, which was devastating to me. Thankfully, I have gained back my appetite and food has now became a way to heal.”
Tori adds about her blog, “During my struggle, I have found that my faith in God, my supportive husband, my daughter Lily, family and friends, exercise and diet are vital in my continuous healing. You will see pieces of all this here on the blog. Join me on a healing journey as we move toward full recovery!”
Nick and Tori, one of 25 known couples of former Arizona athletes, will celebrate Lily’s first birthday on Saturday.
